Holiday yard art is for anyone who loves to celebrate the holidays. Don't limit your holiday cutouts to Christmas - here are some other ideas on designing your holiday displays:
Valentines Day
- Show your love for that special someone
- Colors – reds and pink’s
- Images – hearts, roses, angles, cupid
St Patrick’s Day
- Not limited to the Irish – show the importance of home and family
- Colors – greens
- Images – shamrocks, leprechauns
Easter
- Can emphasize the religious holiday, or the coming of spring
- Colors – pinks and purples
- Images – bunnies, baskets, chicks, eggs, tulips, cross/bible
Patriotic Holidays
- 4th of July, Presidents Day, Veterans Day
- Colors – red, white and blue
- Images – stars, flags, fireworks, patriots, anything patriotic
- Other decorations – flags, bunting
Halloween
- Colors – orange and black
- Images – ghosts, witches grave yards, black cats, bats, monsters, scarecrows
- Other decorations – jack-o-lanterns
Thanksgiving
- Can emphasize the holiday, or the coming of fall
- Colors deep reds, browns and oranges
- Images – Pilgrims, Indians, turkeys
- Other decoration – corn stalks, pumpkins, scarecrows
Christmas
- When people think of holiday decorating, they automatically think of Christmas. At Christmas, outdoor decorating inhibitions disappear and even the most conservative are open to extravagant displays including lights and cutouts.
- Colors: reds, greens, golds, silvers
- Images – Santa, elves, sleigh, snowmen, snowflakes Reindeer, candy canes gingerbread men, toys, nativity scenes, carolers
- Other decorations – Lights, blowmolds, wire frames
You don’t have to limit your decorating to the holidays. Holiday displays can be designed to have seasonal appeal. Remove the Easter eggs, and your Easter display can be suitable throughout the spring. Fall images can be used from Halloween through Thanksgiving. Remove the Christmas images and your snowmen and snowflakes can be used through Valentines Day. Summer is s a great time for a sports related display. Your outdoor displays can last year round. And don’t forget special events like birthdays, anniversaries and the birth of a new child.
