Here are some tips on taking pictures of your holiday display - especially if it involves holiday lights:
Don’t wait till dark. Dusk is a great time for pictures. The lights will show up just as well, and your cutouts will be much more visible.
Use a fast film at a slow shutter speed. Don’t use a flash – your lights should provide sufficient light.
Use a tripod to avoid blurred pictures.
For dramatic effect, take close up shots of individual items. This removes the clutter and increases the likelihood of high-quality pictures. Here are some pictures and videos of my displays.
